Cambodia's economic growth is expected to go well in 2024, according to a report by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on February 19, 2024. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has forecast that Cambodia's economy will grow by 6.1% by 2024 due to global geopolitical tensions and the global economic downturn.
However, the real estate sector in Cambodia has not yet gained much momentum, which is something that needs to be closely monitored. Looking at the real estate sector in Kampot province at the beginning of 2024, experts expressed their views and practical experience as follows:
Mr. Sok Ken, CEO of Kampot Street Real Estate Co., Ltd., said, "Sales activity is slower than last year, as most foreigners now buy land in the form of nominee ownership, and most of them build retirement homes for long-term living."
Areas of high interest are the banks of the Kampot and Prek Teuk Chhou creeks, but selling and buying activities have already taken place in several stages. Meanwhile, the price of land around Teuk Chhou has not decreased, the types of real estate that have decreased include houses, Boreys, and other constructions.
In general, the types of properties that serve the tourism sector and the types of properties that attract foreigners who wish to buy real estate for retirement are still popular and easy to sell.
For the foothills of Bokor Mountain in Bokor city and Kampot, land prices can range from $15- $45 per square meter.
Meanwhile, the area along Prek Teuk Chhou creek to Kampot can be purchased for between $50-$1,500 per square meter. For coastal areas, land prices range from $150- $250 per square meter.
