AirAsia Cambodia, a subsidiary of AirAsia in Cambodia and one of the leading airlines in the region, is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of 2023.
The news comes as Capital A Berhad, AirAsia's largest shareholder, held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Sepang, Malaysia on Monday.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Capital A Berhad CEO Tony Fernandes confirmed that "AirAsia Cambodia is still on track to launch in the 4th quarter of this year and Capital A is looking forward to "finding all the other new markets across Southeast Asia."
Capital A Berhad holds a 51% stake in AirAsia Cambodia, while Sivilai Asia holds the rest.
In fact, AirAsia Aviation Group Limited, the airline of Capital A Berhad, has already signed a joint venture agreement with Sivilai Asia.
Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A, said at the signing ceremony that Capital A will continue to focus on ASEAN and Cambodia is the fifth leading ASEAN country in both regional transport and goods and providing a focal point of economic growth for ASEAN countries.
